Caroga lake by the Sea

Caroga Lake-by-the-Sea

The amusement park was tremendous in the eyes of the 7-year-old boy. All he could dream about was the bumper cars. The bumper cars were located after a long drive through a pine forest with narrow winding roads that opened Sherman’s Caroga Lake Amusement Park. It was old when he was young, and he heard stories in the car of his parents and grandparents going to the park to listen to the band on a Sunday afternoon like Glen Miller or the Mills Brothers play, but that was 40 years ago. Now, there is a swing tilt-a-whirl, bumper cars, a hand-carved Carousel and Ferris wheel, and a Long Beach that looks out into a vast sea. The Arcade was filled not with those computer games but with those penny-operated games you only read about today: pinball games, shooting the duck, or pitching the ball on the goldfish. It was a small lake, but to a little boy’s eyes, it was an amusement park alongside a great ocean of exploration. It was always an end-of-summer event shared by a communal family and friends. As the little boy ran towards the bumper cars, he felt a sense of pure joy and excitement. All the brothers and sisters trailed behind him, laughing and reminiscing about their memories of the park. The sun shone brightly overhead, casting a warm glow on the entire park.
The little boy eagerly climbed into one of the bumper cars, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. With a loud laugh, he revved the car and began raking around the track, bumping into other cars and dodging obstacles. His other siblings did the same, cheering and laughing with each successful bump.
As the day went on, the family explored the rest of the park. They rode the swing, the tilt-a-whirl, and even the Ferris wheel, taking in the breathtaking views of the lake below. They played games in the Arcade and won prizes to take home as souvenirs.
As the sun began to set, the family made their way down to Long Beach. The little boy ran as he grew older, and the amusement park became an annual tradition he looked forward to every year. He was now tall enough to ride all the rides, and he loved the adrenaline rush that came with it. The bumper cars were still his favorite, and he would spend hours driving around, crashing into his friends and family.
But it wasn’t just the rides that made the amusement park special. It was the memories he created with his loved ones. He would go with his parents, grandparents, cousins, and friends. They would all picnic by the lake and spend the day laughing and enjoying each other’s company.
